After months of public input, the Arlington City Council unanimously approved a package of bond projects that will focus on streets, parks, fire facilities and libraries. The 236 million bond program was approved by voters in the November 4, 2014 municipal election.

Proposition 1 – Street Improvements

Bond-Streets

Residential Rebuild Program – $40,150,000

This funding will allow for the design and reconstruction of residential streets in multiple areas of the City that have deteriorated beyond general maintenance and are not funded by the sales tax for street maintenance.

Eden (US 287 to Calender) – $15,000,000

This funding will allow for the design, right-of-way acquisition and reconstruction of Eden Road between US 287 and Calender Road along with installation of curbs, gutters, underground drainage, streetlights and sidewalks.

Matlock (Bardin to Green Oaks) – $14,400,000

This funding will allow for the design, right-of-way acquisition, reconstruction and widening of Matlock Road between Bardin Road and Green Oaks Boulevard from four lanes to six lanes.

Turner Warnell (Matlock to Cooper) – $13,655,000

This funding will allow for the design, right-of-way acquisition, reconstruction and widening of Turner Warnell Road between Matlock Road and Cooper Street from two lanes to four lanes along with the installation of curbs, gutters, underground drainage, streetlights and sidewalks.

Collins (SH 303 to Park Row) – $11,000,000

This funding will allow for the design and reconstruction of Collins Street between State Highway 303 and Park Row Drive.

Avenue E (SH 360 to Great Southwest) – $8,200,000

This funding will allow for the design, right-of-way acquisition, and reconstruction of Avenue E between State Highway 360 and Great Southwest Parkway.

Harris (Cooper to Calender) – $8,200,000

This funding will allow for the design, right-of-way acquisition and reconstruction of Harris Road between Cooper Street and Calender Road along with installation of curbs, gutters, underground drainage, streetlights and sidewalks.

Avenue H (SH 360 to Great Southwest) – $8,000,000

This funding will allow for the design, right-of-way acquisition, and reconstruction of Avenue H between State Highway 360 and Great Southwest Parkway.

Calender (Harris to Eden) – $5,850,000

This funding will allow for the design, right-of-way acquisition and reconstruction of Calender Road between Harris Road and Eden Road along with installation of curbs, gutters, underground drainage, streetlights and sidewalks.

Timberlake (SH 303 to Park Row) – $5,700,000

This funding will allow for the design and reconstruction of Timberlake Drive between State Highway 303 and Park Row Drive.

Sidewalk Program – $5,575,000

This funding will allow for the design and reconstruction of existing sidewalks that can no longer be repaired by general maintenance and the construction of new sidewalks and ramps.

Signal/ITS Annual Program – $5,475,000

This funding will allow for construction of traffic signals and other ITS (Intelligent Transportation System) devices such as electronic message boards and traffic management cameras.

Pleasant Ridge (I-20 to Enchanted Bay) – $5,100,000

This funding will allow for the design, right-of-way acquisition and reconstruction and widening of Pleasant Ridge Road (currently Bowman Springs Road) between Interstate 20 and Enchanted Bay Drive from two lanes to four lanes along with the installation of curbs, gutters, underground drainage, streetlights and sidewalks.

Poly Webb (Pleasant Ridge to Shorewood) – $3,200,000

This funding will allow for the design, right-of-way acquisition, and reconstruction of Poly Webb Road between Pleasant Ridge Road and Shorewood Drive along with installation of curbs, gutters, underground drainage, streetlights and sidewalks.

SH 360 Connections – $3,200,000

This funding will allow for the design, right-of-way acquisition and realignment of the New York Avenue/Eden Road intersection with future State Highway 360 and the design, right-of-way acquisition, and construction of a connection to the future State Highway 360 north of Webb Lynn Road.

Collins (Mayfield to I-20) – $2,900,000

This funding will allow for the design, right-of-way acquisition reconstruction, and widening of Collins Street between Mayfield Road and Interstate 20 from four lanes to six lanes.

Materials Testing Program – $1,875,000

This funding will allow for the testing of materials and methods during roadway construction.

Pleasant Ridge (Plumwood to Enchanted Bay) – $1,200,000

This funding will allow for the design and right-of-way acquisition for future Pleasant Ridge Road between Plumwood Drive and Enchanted Bay Drive.

Bowen/I-20 Texas U-Turn – $615,000

This funding will allow for the design and construction of a Texas U-turn at Bowen Road from the westbound Interstate 20 frontage road to the eastbound Interstate 20 frontage road.

Grant Matching Funds – $500,000

This funding will allow for required city matching funds for state-issued intelligent transportation systems devices grants.

Irrigation Repair Program -$335,000

This funding will allow for the relocation or repair of irrigation systems that are in conflict with roadway construction.

The amounts identified for each Streets project listed under Proposition 1 are estimated amounts and the City of Arlington may reallocate the amounts among the various Streets projects listed or substitute other Streets projects of a similar nature in accordance with the respective bond proposition.
