After months of public input, the Arlington City Council unanimously approved a package of bond projects that will focus on streets, parks, fire facilities and libraries. The 236 million bond program was approved by voters in the November 4, 2014 municipal election.

Proposition 2 – Parks and Recreation

Bond-Parks

Southeast Recreation/Aquatic Center – $25,000,000

This funding would allow for design and construction of a recreation center and aquatic facility at Webb Community Park in southeast Arlington.

Recreation Center Portion of Hugh Smith Recreation Center/East – Library $19,500,000

This funding would allow for design and construction of a new Hugh Smith Recreation Center and Indoor Pool, which will be co-located with a new East Arlington Branch Library.

Harold Patterson Sports Center Renovations – $4,000,000

This funding would allow for phase two improvements at the Harold Patterson Sports Center, including reconstruction of lighted soccer fields, concession/restroom facilities, restrooms and parking lots.

Ditto Golf Course Renovations – $3,000,000

This funding would allow for priority renovations as identified in the Ditto Golf Course Master Plan.

Randol Mill Park Renovations – $1,000,000

This funding would allow for renovation of the basketball/tennis courts and parking lots, dredging of the pond and playing surface replacement on the Doug Inman Miracle Field.

River Legacy Parks Renovations – $1,000,000

This funding would allow for reconstruction of aging parking lots, trail sections and erosion repairs along the trail system.

Julia Burgen Park Phase II – $1,000,000

This funding would allow for phase two improvements, including construction of a parking lot, pavilion, picnic stations, playground, trails and pedestrian bridges.

Park Land Acquisition – $1,000,000

This funding would allow for acquisition of park land in the highest priority service gap areas.

Helen Wessler Park Renovations – $800,000

This funding would allow for creek restoration and installation of a pedestrian bridge over Cottonwood Creek.

Village Creek/Bob Findlay Linear Park Renovations – $600,000

This funding would allow for reconstruction of aging trail sections and replacement of entry signs at both parks.

Bowman Springs Park Renovations – $600,000

This funding would allow for renovations of the playground, restrooms, pavilion and parking lot.

California Lane Park Renovations – $600,000

This funding would allow for renovations of the sprayground and playground and for construction of a restroom facility.

Deaver Park Renovations – $500,000

This funding would allow for renovations of the trail, playground and entry sign and for dredging of the pond.

Rush Creek Dog Park – $500,000

This funding would allow for construction of an off-leash dog park per the Rush Creek Mitigation Plan at the former Willows Condominium site on Pioneer Parkway.

Cravens Park Renovations – $500,000

This funding would allow for renovation of the pavilion, dredging of the pond, and installation of a water well for ballfield irrigation.

Brantley Hinshaw Park Renovations – $400,000

This funding would allow for renovations of the sprayground and pavilion.

The amounts identified for each Parks and Recreation project listed under Proposition 2 are estimated amounts and the City of Arlington may reallocate the amounts among the various Parks and Recreation projects listed or substitute other Parks and Recreation projects of a similar nature in accordance with the respective bond proposition.
