Changes to Rental Housing Assistance Payments
Effective August 1, 2014, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) implemented a change in the manner in which they process Housing Choice Voucher funding to Public Housing Agencies (PHAs).The Housing Choice Voucher funds are used to issue payments to participating property owners in the form of monthly rental housing assistance for eligible tenants.HUD will now issue rental housing assistance funding to PHAs on or about the first of each month. The Arlington Housing Authority (AHA) depends on the receipt of HUD funds before it can issue housing assistance payments. When the AHA receives its monthly allocation of funding from HUD, for payment of rental housing assistance payments, the AHA will issue payment to participating property owners and tenants.For Example:In August 2014, HUD payment of Housing Choice Voucher program funds was received Friday, August 01, 2014.Upon confirmation that the funds were received in the AHA’s account, the AHA notified its bank to release payments and transfer funds into participating property owner’s accounts.Transfer of funds is expected to occur Monday morning, August 4, 2014.

Arlington Housing Finance Corporation – Mortgage Credit Certificate Program
A Mortgage Credit Certificate (MCC) is a federal income tax credit designed to assist persons to become homeowners. With an MCC, the qualified homebuyer is eligible to subtract a portion of the annual interest paid on the mortgage as a special tax credit, not to exceed $2,000.
The Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program (CEAP) provides utility assistance to help residents achieve energy self-sufficiency and avoid utility disruptions.
