The City of Arlington and the Arlington Housing Authority work cooperatively to promote homeownership for first time homebuyers.The following programs are offered to lower income persons in support of homeownership:
Criteria for Eligibility
Program participants must meet the U S Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) income limits. Participants must have a total household income at the time of application that does not exceed the applicable HUD-Income-Limits. For the Homeownership programs the HUD income limits are 80% of the Area Median Income.
Veterans Housing Assistance Program
In 1983, the Legislature created the Veterans Land Board (VLB) Veterans Housing Assistance Program (VHAP), to aid Texas Veterans in purchasing a home. Eligible Texas Veterans have an opportunity to purchase a home with a competitive, low-interest loan with little or no down-payment. Veterans, military members and their spouses may receive up to $417,000 on a fixed-rate loan for 15, 20, 25 or 30 year terms*. Veterans with a VA service-connected disability rating of 30% or greater qualify for a discounted interest rate.Click here for more information about the VHAP.
