Dear Community,

The Arlington MLK Celebration Committee is proud to announce its 28th annual celebration, January 13-16, 2017.  Every year, thousands of people come together in the spirit of Dr. King.  This year’s theme, “Advancing the Dream: A Nation of Freedom and Justice” is inspired by the words of Dr. King who said, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”   Although these words were written over 48 years ago, they still ring true today. With the  support we receive from Arlington and the surrounding communities, we are keeping his dream alive for the good of all.

Our four-day celebration includes art and essay contests, an awards banquet, step show competition, spoken word, multicultural festival, service fest, day of service and youth musical extravaganza. Thousands of children are given the opportunity to learn to communicate with each other what it means to live in a city and nation that believes in freedom and justice for all.

We depend on tax deductible donations from individuals, businesses and nonprofit organizations to help advance Dr. King’s dream and  make our four-day celebration a success.  On this site, we have attached a contributions packet to assist you in determining your level of giving.

On behalf of the Arlington MLK Celebration Committee, I thank you in advance for all your continued support of the MLK “Advancing the Dream” Celebration and look forward to seeing you January 13-16.

Sincerely,

Vera and Dwight McKissic
