Texas City Managers in Arlington for State Conference

City managers representing 130 Texas municipalities are in Arlington for the annual Texas City Management Association Conference.

The meetings portion of the conference begins Friday at the Arlington Convention Center and will feature workshops in areas such as budgeting, leadership, ethics, training, and branding for the more than 400 registered participants.

Mayor Robert Cluck and Arlington City Manager Jim Holgersson will welcome conference attendees Friday morning to open the first general session on leadership.

City managers will also experience Arlington with social excursions to the Texas Rangers baseball game, Six Flags, and Tierra Verde Golf Course, where attendees participated in a golf tournament Thursday.

TCMA is comprised of city officials committed to the council-manager form of government. The organization works as an exchange of information, ideas and support.

The association has been around for 95 years. The League of Texas Municipalities started with 14 cities, changing its name in 1926 to the Texas City Manager’s Association. McAllen City Manager Mike Perez serves as the current TCMA president.
