Arlington Launches Website for MAX

Articles MAX 06-24-13

The website for the Metro ArlingtonXpress, or MAX, debuted Monday for people waiting to catch the City of Arlington’s new bus service scheduled to launch Aug. 19.

Here’s a link to the website: It includes ticket information, maps and other details for planning a trip throughout the Metroplex. Easy-to-read timetables are coming soon.

MAX will connect downtown Arlington and the University of Texas at Arlington and the TRE CentrePort/DFW Airport Station, where riders can catch the T, TRE or Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) to other destinations in the area.

A single day, round-trip pass costs $5. Other ticket options can found on the new website. Approximately 125-250 riders are expected to use the bus service each day.

This new venture is a partnership between the City of Arlington, the T, TRE, DART, Arlington Chamber of Commerce and University of Texas at Arlington.

Let me get this straight. The city is paying DART $700,000/year. Taking out holidays, there are 250 workdays in a year. $700,000/250 is $2800/workday. For comparison, the AISD pays $70/hr for charter bus service.
