24th Annual Yellow Rose Classic

Drive on over to the Arlington Convention Center this weekend to see more than 200 classic, antique, late-model, and performance cars and trucks at the 24th Annual Yellow Rose Classic. This is the largest all Ford indoor car show in the Southwest. Hours: Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is $12 for adults. Kids ages 12 and under are free. Angels vs. Rangers

Outfielder Josh Hamilton and his Los Angeles Angles return to Arlington for a three-game series against your Texas Rangers.  Despite all of the injuries, the Rangers are still trying to play inspired baseball down the stretch.  Don’t miss the action. Prices vary according to seating.

“Secret of the Cardboard Rocket” at UTA Planetarium

The Planetarium at UT-Arlington presents the fabulous computer-animated film Secret of the Cardboard Rocket. Experience this amazing adventure on an amazing projection screen that provides 180 degrees of wonder and discovery. This film follows two kids as they trek across the galaxy aided by a talking astronomy book, and a vivid imagination. The show is Sunday at 1:30pm. Tickets: $6 for adults, $4 for children/students/seniors, $3 for UT-Arlington students, and children 3 and under are free.

Theatre Arlington Presents: The Nerd

Called the funniest play ever written by some, Willum Cubbert invites Rick Steadman (someone who saved Willum’s life, but whom Willum has never met) to stay with him. When Rick arrives, Willum realizes Rick is a hopeless “nerd.” The longer Rick stays, the more things lead to one uproarious incident after another, until Willum finds himself contemplating violence. Friday & Saturday performances are at 8 p.m.; Sunday’s show begins at 2 p.m. Tickets are $22 (with discounts available for Students/Seniors or for Press Pass members).

The Dallas Cowboys play their preseason home opener this Saturday against the Baltimore Ravens. Grab some tickets for the 6 p.m. game and see how the team is shaping up so far.

Empty the Shelter Day

Come find your perfect match at the Animal Services Center during Empty the Shelter Day, Saturday August 16. All pet adoption fees will be waived on this date. A city license fee  of $7 for Arlington is required. Limit two (2) adoptions per household.
