City Launches New State-of-the-Art Television Studio

Arlington: The American Dream City launched a new, digital TV studio to provide enhanced communication tools to reach Arlington residents, businesses and visitors with vital information about what’s happening in our community.

After nearly 10 years of planning, Arlington now has a 1,316 square-foot facility located on the third floor of City Hall. It features high tech equipment, a large studio space with three sets, a control room, edit and graphics suites, and green screen capabilities. It is the first television studio in Arlington history.

Arlington’s cable channel has been also been rebranded with the name “MyArlingtonTV.” It’s devoted to providing programming that highlights city services, events happening in Arlington and other engaging content. The new studio space will enable the City to provide more original content for the channel.

“The City of Arlington is always looking for new and innovative ways to communicate with the community, engage residents and increase transparency,” said Mayor Robert Cluck. “MyArlingtonTV and this new studio are added ways for residents, businesses and visitors to learn about things happening throughout this great city.”

City of Arlington Marketing Communications Manager Jay Warren, who spearheaded the project, said, “It is important for us to reach as many people as we can through our communication. Some people get their news online, some get it through social media, some get it in print, and some get it through video. With this new studio, we can ensure that we are providing the City’s information on all platforms to reach the widest audience possible.”

The City’s Office of Communication programs MyArlingtonTV. In addition to airing City Council meetings, Planning and Zoning Meetings and special events, MyArlingtonTV will showcase a programming lineup of original shows, including: “Weekend Buzz,”“MyArlingtonTV News,”“Culture Buzz” and “Ask Arlington.” Partnerships with other city departments and organizations will further expand the programming provided on the channel with features like “Inside APD” and “UTA Spotlight.”

Viewers can find MyArlingtonTV programs on the following cable systems: Time Warner Channel 16 and AT&T U-Verse channel 99, and streaming capabilities at www.arlingtontx.gov.
