Soak Up Some Sprinkler Knowledge at Upcoming DIY Sprinkler Expo

Before your lawn shrivels in the sun, learn how to use your sprinkler system to benefit the environment and your budget.

All are welcome to attend the first-ever DIY Sprinkler Expo, hosted by the Tarrant Regional Water District and the cities of Arlington, Fort Worth, Frisco and Mansfield. The free event is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, July 8 at the Water Works Learning Center near I-20 and I-35 in Fort Worth.

In honor of Smart Irrigation Month in July, Tarrant Regional Water District hopes to keep residents informed about how to use outdoor irrigation systems more efficiently, said Dustan Compton, Regional Conservation Program manager.

“It’s a free educational event that can help residents manage their outdoor water use,” Compton said.

Participants can learn all about outdoor irrigation systems, including smart technology that could save water and money. The event will be set up with six tents, each one featuring a licensed irrigator talking about a specific sprinkler-related topic.

Topics include:

  • Sprinkler System 101
  • Setting Your Controller
  • Drip Conversion
  • Simple Repairs
  • Efficiency Retrofits
  • Installing/Testing Sensors

Attendees can also learn about how to plant water-smart gardens from the Master Gardeners. Classes will be available inside the Water Works Learning Center, starting at 9:30 a.m.
