Back-to-School Events Scheduled for Arlington and Mansfield ISD Students

Both the Arlington and Mansfield independent school districts will host their annual back-to-school events next month to help students prepare for the  upcoming 2018-2019 school year.

Arlington ISD Back-to-School Kickoff 2018

When: 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, August 11

Where: AT&T Stadium

What to Know:  Eligible AISD students must pre-register to receive backpack with school supplies.

Booths will include immunization station, vision checks, eyeglass fittings, information on after-school care programs, and more.

Arlington community members and supporters may donate to the AISD Back to School Kickoff. A donation of $15 provides one student with a backpack and the supplies he or she needs for a full school year.

Special appearances by Dallas Cowboys mascot Rowdy and former Dallas Cowboys players.

Mansfield ISD Back-to-School Bash 2018

When: 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, August 4

Where: MISD Center for the Performing Arts, 1110 W. Debbie lane in Mansfield

What to Know:  At the bash, school supplies and services will be provided free of charge to MISD students.

Backpacks will be given to Mansfield ISD families on a first come, first serve basis at the Ben Barber Innovation Academy (across the parking lot from the MISD Center for the Performing Arts).

Services include: sports physicals, immunizations, eye exams and glasses, haircuts, dental sealants and other health resources. Please bring your child’s shot records to take part in the free immunizations. (Shots are for uninsured patients only.)

No registration is required, but families will be required to check-in for the school supplies and health services provided. Parents/students should be ready to provide the student’s ID number on the day of the event for verification.

Mansfield ISD will be giving out 5,000 backpacks to MISD students at the event. If you are interested in helping us reach that goal, become an event sponsor or make an online donation.

  1. Why is AISD putting restrictions on who gets a backpack while Mansfield is giving backpacks to everyone?
