On the Clock with the City of Arlington’s EMS System & Ambulance Services

On the Clock is a show that gives residents an inside look at the hard work city employees do every day to make Arlington a better community to live, learn, work and play.

This month’s episode, hosted by City Manager Trey Yelverton, gives residents a behind-the-scenes look at the City’s Emergency Medical Services system.

All Arlington firefighters are Emergency Medical Technicians certified as either EMT-Intermediates or Paramedics. This high level of training allows them to perform advanced life support skills, including initiating intravenous access for drugs and fluids, inserting endotracheal breathing tubes, and administering medications for a variety of medical conditions.

Arlington’s Emergency Medical Service system is an integration of the resources of the Fire Department and the City’s private ambulance contractor, American Medical Response. In order to minimize costs to our residents, the City requires AMR to provide a subscription program that eliminates or reduces out-of-pocket expenses for medically necessary ambulance transports.

Residents may enroll in the AMR Ready Care program at any time. For questions regarding the Ready Care subscription program, please call AMR at 682-227-6035.
