UTA Early Admission Program Expands to Grand Prairie, Mansfield

The welcome mat of UT Arlington continues to expand. After partnering with Arlington ISD for an early admissions program aimed at increasing the number of high school students who earn college degrees, Mansfield and Grand Prairie school districts are now on board as well. Memorandum of understanding signing events occurred Tuesday in Mansfield and Grand Prairie announcing this educational initiative. Public Meeting: Tri-Schools Road Project

    The Tri-Schools Road Project is close to becoming a multi-million dollar project featuring water, sanitary sewer, storm water drainage, street lighting and street pavement improvements. During this project, crews will improve the following roads: Calender, Curry, Ledbetter and Russell. Ledbetter, Russell and Calendar are narrow, two-lane asphalt roadways with ditch drainage and limited sidewalks, making the area unsafe for children who walk to school. Residents in the area petitioned for the project, which has been developed with community support over the past few years. To be a true all-star takes skills on and off the field.  Do you know someone who deserves recognition for hard work and a winning attitude? The City of Arlington invites area coaches and teachers to nominate a High School Student Athlete of the Month. Support Mansfield ISD Athletics During Seventh Annual FanFest

On August 15, Mansfield ISD Athletics will host the 7th Annual FanFest at Vernon Newsom Stadium. FanFest has become the annual free kick-off event for the Mansfield ISD community. Held at Newsom Stadium, FanFest showcases high school drumlines, cheerleaders and drill teams and introduces fans to the varsity football teams. Library Competition for Shakespeare Lovers Feb. 9

William Shakespeare fans are invited to the first round of the National Shakespeare Competition being held Saturday, February 9, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Lake Arlington Branch, 4000 West Green Oaks Boulevard. The English-Speaking Union of the United States is hosting this competition for area high school students. Competitors will choose a Shakespearean sonnet and monologue, memorize the selections, and perform them in front of judges.  Presentations are being evaluated by how well the participants understand the piece, his/her ability to communicate them, and the artistic reciting skills. Streamlining a Path Toward Affordable, Accelerated College Degree

The University of Texas at Arlington announces renewed partnerships with the Arlington and Mansfield school districts and Tarrant County College to aid dedicated students on their path to earning a full bachelor’s degree. Through agreements signed July 23, 2012, the two school districts, TCC and UT Arlington pledge to provide additional staff and scholarship resources to guide students and families who want the highest quality education from high school through college.
