Officers investigating two separate fatal crashes overnight

Arlington police are investigating two separate traffic crashes during the overnight hours. The first crash occurred around midnight in the 900 block of West Interstate-30. A motorcycle was traveling westbound on I-30 when it struck a disabled vehicle on the outside shoulder. The driver of the motorcycle was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. The initial collision caused a chain reaction involving two additional vehicles but the occupants were not injured. Information provided by witnesses lead investigators to believe that speed and unsafe driving were factors in the crash.

The second crash occurred in the 1100 block of Benge Drive at approximately 2:10 a.m. The driver of a vehicle was traveling south in the 1200 block of South Davis Drive and was attempting to make a left turn to go east on Benge Drive when the vehicle failed to navigate the turn and struck the curb on the south side of the intersection. The vehicle then collided with a guide wire that supports a telephone pole and came to rest between the telephone pole and a second vehicle. The driver was ejected from the vehicle. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. Investigators believe that alcohol was a factor in the crash. The identity of the deceased will be available once the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has notified next of kin.
