Department responds to an auto-pedestrian fatality

The Arlington Police Department responded to an auto-pedestrian crash around midnight on Saturday, December 26, 2015 in the southbound lanes of U.S. 287 and Turner Warnell Road. Upon arrival, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. Investigators believe that the pedestrian’s vehicle had broken down in the vicinity about ¼ mile from the crash scene and he began walking along the roadway. The other driver, operating a pickup truck, was travelling southbound in the 7800 block of U.S. 287 in the outside lane and struck the pedestrian in the main lane of the traveled portion of the roadway. Investigators are not certain why the pedestrian would have been walking in the lanes. The driver of the truck stopped and called 911 and is not expected to face any charges in this crash.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner will identify the deceased once next of kin notification has been made.
