Arlington Police Department Looking for Hit & Run Driver Involving Bicyclist

The Arlington Police Department responded to a major crash involving a bicyclist on Friday, November 25, 2016 around 11:23 p.m. Initial reports by witnesses indicated a bicyclist was struck in the 5300 block of W. Sublett near US 287. When officers arrived, they found a 23-year-old woman unconscious lying on the ground near a bike. The vehicle that struck the bicyclist fled the scene.

According to witnesses, a red or maroon-colored Toyota Corolla passenger car was seen in the Jack in the Box parking lot at 4950 W. Sublett Road and possibly struck the curb in the lot before exiting westbound onto Sublett. Investigators believe the bicyclist was traveling westbound on Sublett in front of the Toyota Corolla. The passenger car struck the bicyclist from behind and then made a u-turn on Sublett and drove eastbound towards the US 287 frontage road. The vehicle then turned southbound onto the frontage road.

Detectives have canvassed the area for possible clues and are in the process of reviewing surveillance footage from area businesses. Investigators believe that there could possibly be some front windshield damage based upon witness accounts. The female bicyclist was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.
