Media Office

The Arlington Police Department Media Office is comprised of a lieutenant, sergeant and two civilian employees. In compliance with state public disclosure laws, the primary goal of this office is to provide timely information of value to the community.

The Media Office works to cultivate and maintain effective relationships with the news media and community to ensure the integrity of ongoing criminal investigations.

The APD Media Office is the most accurate source for information relating to local law enforcement operations in the city limits of Arlington. Every team member has a strategic role.

Notable Accomplishments

In 2011, the Media Office coined the term “tweetalong,” and for three consecutive years in 2012, 2013 and 2014 earned the Most Innovative Use of Social Media Award from the Texas Center for Digital Government. In 2013, the Arlington Police Department was also recognized as one of six Most Friendliest Police Departments on social media in the nation. In 2015, APD won a First Place Award  from the International Association of Law Enforcement Planners for the publication of the 2014 Annual Police Report.

  • Production of the news program, Inside APD
  • Management of APD social media platforms
  • Management of APD web pages
  • Monthly production of the On Call police/community newsletter
  • Internal communication for officers and APD staff
  • Production of the APD Annual Report to the community
  • News release development and distribution
  • News conference coordination
  • Public safety campaign marketing and messaging
  • Coordination of student internships
  • Participation in community events/special events
